Privacy Policy

What we collect

Your Apple user ID, the name and username you choose, your home country, why you travel, how you found Halalo, your halal preferences and cravings, the places you mark as visited, your scores, any place or profile reports you file and the travellers you block. We never receive your email unless you choose to share it with Sign in with Apple.

Usage analytics

To improve Halalo we record anonymous app events — for example which screens open, which city is shown, and when a feature is used — with a random install ID that resets if you reinstall. No advertising ID, no precise location, no contacts. Turn it off any time in Profile › Settings › Privacy & legal.

Location

Your precise location stays on your iPhone. To find places near you, Halalo sends an approximate area — rounded to about 1 km — to our database and, outside our cities, to OpenStreetMap’s public servers and Apple Maps search. Halalo doesn’t store it, and analytics only see the city the app is showing.

Camera

The label scanner reads ingredients on your iPhone. Photos are never uploaded or kept by Halalo.

Purchases

Apple processes all payments. We use RevenueCat to confirm purchases and count subscribers; it receives your purchase receipts and your Halalo account ID, not your payment details.

Reminders

Optional reminders (Jumu’ah while you’re in a city, scoring a place after a visit, and meal ideas if you turn them on) are scheduled on your phone. Turn each one off in Profile › Settings › Reminders.

Public profile

Your profile is private unless you turn on Profile › Settings › Account › Public profile. A public profile lets other travellers find you by name or username and see which places you’ve visited and whether you’re a Pro member. Anyone can report a public profile or block you; a traveller you block can’t see your profile or meals, and you can’t see theirs.

No tracking, no ads

Halalo doesn’t track you across apps, doesn’t sell data and has no advertising SDKs.

Where data lives

Account data is stored with our database provider (Supabase) in Seoul, South Korea — a country the EU recognises as providing adequate data protection — protected by row-level security and encrypted in transit.

Your rights

You can see and correct your profile in the app, export or ask about your data at ergashevpulot@gmail.com, and delete everything with Profile › Settings › Account › Delete account.

Deleting

Delete account removes your profile, visits, ratings and rewards permanently. Anonymous analytics are kept without any link to you.
